This page is a general overview of the corridor. The exact course of legalisation depends on the document: some stages, such as the DVV or notary certification, apply only to some documents. We confirm the document-specific stages after reviewing the document, before quoting.

Check these before ordering

  • Documents the customer printed themselves from the DVV e-service cannot be legalised. Typically birth and marriage certificates and register extracts.

Order a paper original from the DVV before starting the chain. This adds lead time, not authority fees.

  • Universities' electronically verifiable certificates cannot be legalised. These are exactly what recent graduates hold.

The job runs on a notary-certified paper copy instead. Tell us in your quote request whether your certificate is electronically verifiable.

  • The document must carry the official's original handwritten signature AND printed name. Without both it is not legalised.

Steps and authority fees

Below are the fees charged by states. They are passed through at cost. Our standard service fee is EUR 100. Where a country package applies, the package price is confirmed separately.

01

Original document

Note: an apostille is not sufficient, Thailand requires full consular legalisation. Thailand deposited its instrument of accession on 30 June 2026, and the HCCH currently lists 28 February 2027 as the Convention's entry-into-force date. Applicability between Finland and Thailand will be checked again closer to that date.

02

DVV / notary certification

Digital and Population Data Services Agency (DVV)

Whether this step applies is decided by who issued the document (the Finnish MFA's own split): university, chamber-of-commerce and authorised-translator documents go straight to the MFA; private, company, AMK, vocational, upper-secondary and comprehensive-school documents need the notary first.

Not always needed

€ 27 per signature

03

Finnish MFA legalisation

Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland

The MFA receives documents Monday to Wednesday.

€ 30 per signature

04

Royal Thai Embassy attestation (Helsinki)

Royal Thai Embassy, Helsinki

€ 15 per document

05

Thai MFA attestation

Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand

Performed in Thailand.

Done in the destination country

confirmed in advance

Quantity does not scale the price. Some fees are charged per signature and some per document, so the same bundle costs a different amount depending on how many signatures the documents carry.

Service boundary: stages performed in the destination country are not part of our service unless separately agreed. They are marked in the chain.
